Applications
Our products comprise a wide range of inert, dielectric fluids that remain stable in
aggressive conditions and are widely used in semiconductor applications for heat
transfer in chillers (e.g., for handlers, testers, dry etchers, ion implanters and other
fab equipment) and recirculating cooling loops for wafers and process tools, as well as
for cleaning and drying delicate components due to clean, low-residue evaporation.
They
are also used for hermeticity, package-integrity leak testing (e.g., IC packages, sensors,
MEMS, power modules, and optoelectronics) and vapor phase soldering because of
their low surface tension and non-conductivity.
Immersion cooling is a primary data center application in which servers, CPUs, GPUs,
and other hardware are submerged in fluid. The fluid absorbs heat and circulates
through heat exchangers to remove heat from the system. This approach is well suited
to environments that require thermal stability, compact design, and high up-time
especially in advanced AI data centers, where cooling is a key challenge, where
immense power exceeding 40-100kW is required.
Our products offer strong advantages
for immersion cooling, including high thermal performance and appropriate specific
gravity, and their non-flammability provides a key safety advantage over mineral oils.
Aerospace environments are demanding, making our inert, dielectric fluids well suited for these applications. Key uses include cooling high-performance equipment such as radar systems, satellite power supplies, and avionics. Their high heat capacity supports rapid heat dissipation in confined spaces while reducing the risk of electrical short circuits. Certain formulations are also used in satellite micro-propulsion components, leveraging their inertness to operate in extreme vacuum and high-radiation environments.
Our products are specifically designed for heat transfer and electronics testing and are commonly used in automation industry test systems for gross leak (bubble) testing, thermal shock, and thermal cycling. Key attributes include a wide range of density, viscosity, boiling point and freezing point, along with a favorable coefficient of thermal expansion, making them well suited for automation testing applications.

With 3M exiting the Fluorinert business in 2025, we have positioned our company to support customers with 3M replacement products. Our portfolio includes multiple drop-in replacements for 7100, 7200, 7300, 7500, FC-3283, and FC-40. These products have passed third-party laboratory testing in accordance with current regulations and have already been qualified and specified by leading manufacturers, equipment makers, and producers across the semiconductor/electronics, medical, and aerospace industries.
As demand for 3M alternatives grows, we support customers with customized products for challenging applications. To address cost considerations, we also offer a broad range of 3M alternative grades to suit different industry requirements. With options across HFC-, PFPE-, and synthetic-based fluids, we can match the right product to each application to achieve high efficiency.
Syensqo Specialty Polymers offers a safe heat-transfer (HT) medium for demanding applications, including semiconductor, chemical, pharmaceutical, vapor-phase heating, transformer and supercomputer cooling, and recirculating chillers. These liquids are common replacements for 3M FC-3283, FC-40, FC-72 Engineering Fluids, and 3M Novec 7500.
